Our MS Infusion Center at Greater Rochester Neurology has recently been renovated. We have an open area with a selection of chairs that while being infused offers coffee, water, magazines, free WI-FI, and a flat screen TV. We also have two smaller area's available that we use for patients who want more privacy, and also for patients receiving Migraine Infusions.
We are currently staffed with two fulltime Registered Nurses who specialize in Migraines and Multiple Sclerosis, as well as two Medical Assistants.
MULTIPLE SCLEROSIS INFUSION MEDICATIONS
An individual may receive outpatient intravenous medications such as Solu-Medrol, IvIgG or Tysabri in the infusion center to name a few. The Provider will determine the medication, dose, and frequency of the medications for you.
Two of the newer medications we are currently infusing are:
Ocrevus: This medication launched in March 2017 as one of the first medications approved to treat Primary Progressive Multiple Sclerosis. It is also approved for individuals with Relapsing forms of Multiple Sclerosis. Ocrevus is an infusion that is given every 6 months over approximately 2-4 hours.
Lemtrada: This medication indicated for the treatment of patients with relapsing forms of Multiple Sclerosis. It is infused once per year for two years with monthly lab monitoring due to its safety profile.
